Hysterical comedian Steve Byrne will film the pilot episode of Sullivan And Son, a new show airing on TBS Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011. The show is produced by Vince Vaughn of The Break-Up and Peter Billingsley of Iron Man.

The pilot was written by Byrne and executive producer/showrunner Rob Long of Cheers. Sullivan and Son takes place in a popular and legendary neighborhood bar in a working-class neighborhood in Pittsburgh. Filled with locals and regulars, Sullivan and Son is the unofficial "town hall" to the neighborhood. Steve Sullivan (Byrne) is the son of the current owner of the bar and the grandson of its founder. His Irish-American father and his Korean-American mother never expected their son to leave his job as a successful corporate attorney in New York and return to the old neighborhood to take over Sullivan & Son. But that's just what he's done. And so begins Steve's quest for a more meaningful and rewarding life behind the bar.

Comedy Central's head of programing and production announced today that 'Nick Swardson's Pretend Time' has been picked up for a second season and will premiere Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 10:30p.m.

If you haven't already seen it, 'Nick Swardson Pretend Time" is a sketch show through Swardson's twisted humor. Previous sketches included a wheelchair-bound cat, a gay robot and his frat boy friends and monster doctors.

The first season of the show was the second-highest original cable series in Tuesday Prime with men 18-34 during fall 2010.

"I am very excited to be back for a second season. Comedy Central has been great and very supportive. I feel that now, more than ever, our country needs to see a cat in a wheelchair doing cocaine. As do the children," said Swardson.

Gaining respect in the comedy industry has never been an easy feat for women. However, this week, David Letterman took part in a major step toward girl power.

"The Late Show" has doubled its number of female staff writers with the addition of up and coming stand-up comedian Jena Friedman, rounding out the number of ladies in the writer's room to a solid two.
While no official announcement has been made, on Friday "The Late Show" tweeted a list of writers' Twitter handles, including Friedman's, as suggestions for Follow Friday.
According to Splitsider, Friedman's addition to the writing staff marks the first time in the show's 18 year history that more than one woman has been on staff. The number of women in late night has often been a topic of debate in the comedy world. Most recently, a viral chart displayed the startling ratio of male to female staff writers on various late night shows in black and white. In 2009 former "Late Show" staff writer Nell Scovel dished to Vanity Fair about "sexist" and "hostile" working conditions on the show, and who could forget Jezebel's article about sexism on "The Daily Show" in the summer of 2010 that prompted the show's female staff to respond in defense of Jon Stewart?
A little more about Friedman -- she currently performs stand-up comedy in venues around New York City, has performed abroad and has an online presence with sketches on Funny Or Die and UCBComedy.com.
